Jeffrey W. Keiser

Attorney & Founder, Keiser Law

Jeffrey W. Keiser is a Texas-licensed attorney with over 25 years of experience at the intersection of law and business. His career spans two distinct chapters: over a decade as a partner in a law firm serving closely-held and family-owned businesses, followed by nearly 14 years as an executive vice president leading operations, finance, legal, and strategic growth for a multi-state enterprise.

That combination of perspectives, the attorney who understands the courtroom and the executive who has lived in the boardroom, is what defines his approach at Keiser Law. Jeffrey doesn't just advise business owners on what the law requires. He helps them think through what the business needs, how a decision will play out operationally, and what it means for the long-term health of their company and family.

Jeffrey founded Keiser Law to bring sophisticated, general-counsel-level guidance to closely-held businesses, the kind of companies where every owner wears multiple hats, where the personal and professional are deeply intertwined, and where the stakes of every decision are felt directly. He works with startups laying their first foundation and established companies planning their next chapter.

Professional History

Over a Decade in Business Law

Jeffrey began his legal career as a partner at a Texas business law firm, where he spent more than a decade advising closely-held and family-owned companies across industries including software, home construction, transportation, and healthcare. His practice centered on M&A, tax optimization, and entity restructuring, work that required not only legal precision but a deep understanding of how business owners think and make decisions.

During that chapter, he led a $38M acquisition that delivered $3M in tax savings, restructured a $15M family enterprise into a limited partnership saving $700K in taxes, and achieved Texas's first municipal de-annexation from an Emergency Services District, saving taxpayers over $500K annually.

Nearly 14 Years as a Business Executive

Jeffrey then stepped out of private practice and into the C-suite, serving as executive vice president of a multi-state motor vehicle distributor with manufacturing and distribution subsidiaries and over 825 employees. There he directed finance, legal, risk management, and day-to-day operations, gaining the kind of firsthand operational experience that most outside counsel never have.

The results speak for themselves: a $4.5M financial turnaround, a $10M facility expansion that grew the company's service network by 80%, a $40M ESOP ownership transition, and a $7M multi-location acquisition that returned $4.5M in net value within 18 months. He also launched a captive insurance model that recovered $750K in savings and led a $1M ERP implementation supporting $150M in annual revenue.

Back to the Practice of Law, With Both Perspectives

In 2025, Jeffrey founded Keiser Law to bring everything he has learned, from the courtroom and the boardroom, back to the business owners who need it most. His practice focuses on outside general counsel services, entity formation, M&A advisory, succession planning, contracts, governance, buy-sell agreements, equity ownership disputes, and tax guidance for closely-held and family-owned businesses across Texas.

Beyond the Office

Jeffrey lives in the Houston area with his wife, Stephanie, and their three daughters. Married for over 25 years, family has always been at the center of how he approaches both life and work.

Away from client work, he is an avid reader with eclectic taste; his shelves hold everything from science fiction, fantasy, and the classics to books on business, personal development, and economics. He also enjoys golf, particularly during Houston's brief window of "perfect golf weather," though he still finds his way to the course on the less-than-ideal days as well.

And then there are the aquariums. Jeffrey keeps five freshwater tanks at home, most of them nano setups, with a focus on planted tanks and aquascaping. For him, it is the process that draws him in: designing a layout, building the hardscape, planting, and watching a new ecosystem take root. It turns out the same instinct that drives him to help business owners build something from the ground up shows up at home, too, just on a smaller scale and with better lighting.

Industry Experience

Jeffrey has advised and led businesses across a broad range of industries, giving him the contextual understanding to serve diverse clients effectively.
